LIFE AND SELF-DEVELOPMENT SKILLS

Realme believes in empowering learners by equipping them with essential life skills to help them become responsible, accountable and confident. We believe that other skills, besides academics and digital skills, are essential to being successful in life, such as leadership and communication skills.

The C.A.R Workshop

“Everything can be taken from a man but one thing: the last of the human freedoms—to choose one’s ATTITUDE in any given set of circumstances, to choose one’s own way.”
– Victor Frankl

The C.A.R WORKSHOP is based on the principles of Victor Frankl, founder of Logotherapy (also known as meaning centred therapy).

C.A.R represents Choice, Attitude, and Responsibility.

The meaning of C.A.R. is to become self-aware. At Realme Training Consulting, we encourage learners to use C.A.R as a tool to steer through any issues and challenges that they are confronted with in their lives.

Emotional Intelligence

Emotional Intelligence is the ability to understand, interpret and respond to our and others emotions.     Emotional Intelligence is defined by five elements: empathy, self-regulation, self-awareness, motivation and social skills. There are 4 levels of emotional intelligence that are used when building up our emotional intelligence, perceiving, reasoning, understanding, and managing emotions. Having a strong emotional intelligence gives us the ability to be good leaders, good listeners, building strong relationships in all areas of our life and to pursue a life that offers meaning.

Learners will have the ability to build and understand the importance of emotional intelligence will play in their life, while at the centre.

Performance Learning

We are delighted to announce that Realme Education is working with Performance Learning® to participate in the Performance Learning Assessment.

Performance Learning is an organisation focused on helping learners excel in four main areas: retention and recollection of information, time management, sleep and wellbeing, and personal growth (managing stress and anxiety towards exams, exam techniques and routines).

Your child will be invited to complete a short computer-based questionnaire, which we call the Performance Learning Assessment to help identify how best to aid their learning. The Assessment consists of the following categories:

  • Classwork This looks at their classwork and how they feel when completing work.
  • School This looks at how they feel about school.
  • Sleep This looks at their energy in school as well as outside of school and how they feel.
  • Goals This gives the learner the chance to tell us about their goals and what they want to achieve most in class and in school.

Once completed, the results will be provided to the school to help them direct the students’ learning towards resources that will help improve academic performance and help to deal with stress and anxiety towards examinations.

Entrepreneurship

Turning passion into a career!

Entrepreneurship is a vital skill that needs to be taught as we head into the 21st century. Learners must be taught to change their mindset from that of an employee to the attitude and approach of an entrepreneur. We now need a new education paradigm – entrepreneurship education.

Entrepreneurship education includes skills and aspects such as: Emotional intelligence, critical thinking, problem solving, innovation, creativity, imagination, collaboration, communication, leadership, productivity, accountability, intercultural awareness, flexibility, digital and technology skills.

Learners will be cheered on during their time at Realme to research their ideas, passions and talents. They will be taught the ins and outs of being an entrepreneur. During the holidays, they will have the chance to job shadow in any area or field within which their passion, talent or interest lies.

Learners will also play the stock market using the “Easy Equities Demo app” and learn about money by reading the book “Manage Your Money Like A Grownup” (Sam Beckbessinger) and having group discussions. Hopefully this will encourage the learners to start investing with their pocket money.

Esports

Esports competitive gaming (known as electronic sports, professional gaming, pro gaming and competitive video gaming) is a form of competition that is facilitated by electronic systems, such as video games. Esports takes the form of organised multiplayer video game competitions.

Esports helps prepare learners for the 21st Century by improving their technology skills, and also encourages them to break down social stereotypes and norms that were stigmatised up until recently. Esports develops social skills, cognitive stimulation and critical-thinking skills.

At the Realme centre learners will participate in the Drone flying and racing e-sports league.
